Application and Admission Requirements, and Required Documents for Application to the Data Science Department Graduate Program at our Institute

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

A minimum score of 70 on the Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES EA/QA) or at least 680 in the old format or 153 in the new format on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) quantitative or verbal sections, or a minimum score of 500 on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).
  
The ALES EA/QA score, GRE quantitative or verbal score, and GMAT score are valid for five (5) years from the exam result date.

One of the following language scores is required:

- TOEFL IBT: Minimum score of 87 (valid for two (2) years from the exam date)
- ÜDS, KPDS, YDS, e-YDS, YÖKDİL: Minimum score of 73 (valid for five (5) years from the exam date)
- PTE: Minimum score of 74 (valid for two (2) years from the exam date)
- AGU IMS: Pass (Candidates must pass all language categories)

* Candidates without a language certificate may apply to master's programs. Conditional admission will be given to those who pass the interview. Candidates who submit the language scores listed above can register for the academic term. Those who do not submit their scores are given one (1) year from the interview date.

**Candidates applying to master’s programs are not required to submit a language certificate if they graduated from a 100% English-taught undergraduate program within the last four semesters and can document it.

Note: For the 2024-2025 spring semester application period, the English Proficiency Exam (IMS) will be held on January 15, 2025, as announced by the School of Foreign Languages.

APPLICATION EVALUATION

Graduation GPAs will be converted from a 4.0 scale to a 100-point scale based on the Higher Education Council (YÖK) conversion table.

For Master’s program applications, the admission score will be calculated as follows:  
- 50% ALES EA/QA score  
- 15% graduation GPA  
- 35% interview score  

The minimum total evaluation score for admission is 75.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FROM CANDIDATES

FOR APPLICATION

- Applications must be submitted online at https://sis.agu.edu.tr and all documents must be scanned and fully uploaded to the system. Applications with missing documents will not be considered.

- Bachelor’s degree diploma, Master’s degree diploma, or provisional graduation certificate (Note: Students in their graduation period must submit a transcript, and the diploma must be presented at final registration. Documents obtained from e-government are accepted.)

- ALES or equivalent exam result document

- Foreign language or equivalent exam result document

- Academic transcript (documents obtained from e-government are accepted)

- CV (in English, in YÖK format)

 

- One (1) reference letter (Reference letters can be obtained from an employer, the candidate's undergraduate thesis advisor, or a faculty member who taught the candidate during their undergraduate studies.)

- Statement of Purpose (Must be written in English and include the candidate's research goals.)

- Photograph (to be uploaded to the system)

- Turkish and international candidates who have studied abroad and wish to pursue graduate studies in Türkiye must obtain a recognition certificate from YÖK, verifying whether the institutions they previously attended are recognized.

- To certify that all documents are complete and accurate, the relevant sections of the "Documents Required for Graduate Program Application" must be filled out and uploaded to the system along with other application documents. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FROM CANDIDATES FOR FINAL REGISTRATION

- Originals, notarized copies, or e-government versions and photocopies of all documents required for the application

- Two (2) photographs (must be passport-sized and taken within the last six months).

- ID card or Turkish ID card with a photocopy; for international candidates, passport and photocopy

- Military Status Certificate for male students

* Candidates must apply in person for final registration.

* Candidates who do not complete their final registration by the dates specified by the Institute cannot claim any rights.

* Registration by mail is not allowed.

* Applications with false or tampered documents will not be registered, even if successful in the exam.

* If a student is found to have registered with false information, their enrollment will be canceled.

* Candidates are responsible for following the process regarding post-application procedures. Individual notifications will not be provided.

* The application tracking and evaluation process for international candidates is conducted by the International Office, which then forwards the list to the Institute.
